To my understanding, it's a french thing. Alice Artzt did a series of videos explaining the technique.

The basic principles of Shearer's work are still the same: economy of motion and movement of all the joints in the same direction. But Presti's technique seems more free stroke oriented and off the opposite side of the nail.

Jean Francois Delcamp (owner of the popular guitar forum) also plays this way. Though he's left handed.

I have heard and read some great things about Presti but man, her technique was so strange. I wonder what some of the more modern pedagogues of guitar think about it. Did Aaron Shearer ever talk about Presti's technique? What about Romero or other schools of thought?

I once played for Alice Arts in a master class and it was not a good experience. She seemed to try to make a fool of me to the class and I did not like it. I remember her trying to explain some of the right hand concepts and it was interesting but her manner with me was a total turn off.
