[Concert Review] Guitarist Goran Ivanovic w/ Desiree Ruhstrat, violin & David Cunliffe, cello

Giving important push and exposure to deserving young classical musicians on the brink of major careers has been the shining mission of Music in the Loft for the last 17 years. It’s gratifying to see the series going strong despite the bad economy. Bookings extend into 2013, and general director Elinor Olin and board president Lincoln Ellis have recently taken on new administrative and artistic duties.

The latest Loft concert, presented to a standing-room-only audience Saturday evening at the series’ customary location – the handsomely appointed West Loop residence of Sidney Hyman and his wife, series founder and artistic director emeritus Fredda Hyman – offered chamber works for violin, cello and guitar, played by Chicago-based artists familiar to Music in the Loft audiences: Lincoln Trio members Desiree Ruhstrat, violin, and David Cunliffe, cello, along with guitarist Goran Ivanovic.
